Strawberry Tart

Strawberry Tart – Recipe by Ina Garten. The great thing about Strawberry Tart is that most of it can be prepared well ahead of time! I made the pastry cream well in advance of our planned get together with friends and refrigerated and baked the tart just the day before. On the day of the party, I assembled and glazed the fruit. I adapted this recipe from Ina’s book which taught me how to make  9-inch tart shell and fill it with pastry cream. She has these in individual tart shells which look really beautiful. I was surprised at how easy it really was to make. I love Ina! I also love the flaky crust and rich pastry cream . . . CLICK TO READ MORE

Strawberries dipped in chocolate

Strawberries are in plentiful these days and they’re one of our favorite fruits. This yummy dessert/snack only takes a couple to minutes to prepare. It’s a great last minute dessert to make at home for the unexpected guests and it looks so elegant! Chocolate-dipped strawberries can range from $12 to $19 a pound. At home, however, it’s under $5 (a pound) with extra strawberries to spare. Plus it’s fresh and you can use chocolate of your choice like white, milk or dark. I like to use Lindt white chocolate as we love  it’s smooth, creamy and milky texture making it a perfect combination with the tart and sweet strawberries. I use Ina Garten’s method of tempering the chocolate by microwaving . . . CLICK TO READ MORE

Peach and Blueberry Crumble

Peach and Blueberry crumbles- serves 5 to 6 This wonderful recipe comes from Ina garten’s ‘Barefoot Contessa’ at home. My husband gifted me this book on this mother’s day. Though I have made this recipe many times before.. been borrowing the book from the library, it feels good to own it. This is one of the best fruit desserts I have had. What I love about this dessert is that it is light, refreshing and so YUM. Made with fresh, juicy peaches and sweet blueberries with a hint of lemon in there. Served warm with a dollop of vanilla ice cream, I am in HEAVEN. INGREDIENTS: For the fruit: 2 pounds firm, ripe peaches (6 to 8 peaches) 2 teaspoons grated lemon . . . CLICK TO READ MORE
