I have been doing a lot of smash cakes for photo shoots. These pictures were taken by my talented friend Sherri Kelly of Sherrikellyphotography. She really takes some amazing pictures! This is a 2 layer vanilla cake frosted with Swiss Meringue Buttercream! I used a Ateco tip 104. Click here to see more pictures from the shoot! Adalyn’s mother loved the cake for the photo shoot and ordered an ombre ruffle cake for her 1st birthday party and some pink vanilla cupcakes with a chocolate frosting. Her whole theme was gold and pink. I added a few drops of Americolor soft pink to the vanilla batter. Baked them in mini gold cupcake liners. Sprinkled some pearlized sugar crystals in gold and a few pink sprinkles. I actually sorted the pink ones out of the colorful medley! Just for a little girly touch, added some flowers made out of fondant.
